How to Make a Radar Chart in Excel
Excel's built-in radar chart can handle simple profiles, but the setup is finicky and the output is static. Here's the exact process for Excel desktop and Excel for the web, plus what to do when you need a shareable, interactive version.

Prepare your data the Excel way
Excel expects a table with categories in the first row and entities in columns. Each value under a category must be on the same numeric scale. For example, if you're comparing three products across five features, your sheet should look like: Feature | Product A | Product B | Product C, with one feature per row.
Keep the scale identical for every attribute. Mixing 1–5 ratings with dollar values will distort the radar shape and make the chart misleading.
Insert a radar chart in Excel
Desktop: select the whole table including headers, go to Insert → Charts, click the Insert Waterfall, Funnel, Stock, Surface or Radar Chart icon, and choose Radar or Filled Radar.
Excel for the web: select the data, click Insert → Charts, open the Line or Area menu, then choose Radar.
Excel plots each column as a separate series and uses the first row as labels. If the chart looks wrong, click Select Data and make sure the first row and first column are used as labels, not as values.
Customize the radar chart
Right-click the chart and choose Format Chart Area to change colors, line thickness, and fill opacity. Add data labels (Chart Elements → Data Labels) if you want exact values on each point. Set the radial axis minimum and maximum to match your scale so the shape isn't compressed or stretched.
For a cleaner look, limit the chart to 4–10 attributes and 1–4 series. More than that turns the chart into spaghetti.
What Excel radar charts can't do
Excel radar charts are static images. You can't embed a live interactive version on a website, let readers hover for exact values, toggle series on or off, or generate a public share link. Exporting is limited to PNG via right-click → Save as Picture; there is no native SVG export.
